North Carolina Federation of Colored Women's Clubs

The North Carolina Federation of Colored Women's Cub, Young Adult & Youth Clubs, Incorporated was organized in 1909 to promote the charitable, religious, and educational purposes of our people.

“Lifting as we climb,” is the motto of a small nucleus of women who will forever be a part of this nation’s treasure and history. In 1909, a group of women in North Carolina organized this league of clubs, now a Federation of clubs. The first meeting was held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The women organized with a purpose: to lift those around them.
